About this resource
The initiative aims to enlist volunteers who will read to children, nurturing a love for reading while providing books for them to retain and enhance their personal libraries. The North Coast Team operates from SMART's main office in Portland, with staff frequently visiting the regions served by this team.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals can walk in, call, or check the website for further details. Volunteer applications can be found online.
Fees: There are no associated costs.
Who can use this
- Participants in the literacy program are children aged 5-10 (Pre-K through grade 3), while volunteers must complete a national criminal background check.
