Authorized to issue pet licenses in King County for pet owners. Discounts are available for seniors and individuals with disabilities, while service animal licenses are provided at no cost.
Intake Procedure: Complete the application online. For further details, call or check the website for licensing locations. During the summer and fall seasons, King County canvassers also offer pet licenses door-to-door.
Fees: Annual licensing fees are $60 for unaltered dogs and cats, $30 for altered pets, $15 for seniors or disabled individuals, and free for service animals.
Who can use this
- There are no restrictions for obtaining pet licenses. King County mandates that all dogs and cats aged 8 weeks or older must have a pet license in most areas. To qualify for the senior/disabled discount, the pet owner must be at least 65 years old or have a documented disability, and the pet must be altered. For service animals, the owner must have a documented disability and provide a statement confirming the animal's status as a service animal, which must also be altered. A service animal is defined as any animal trained or in training to assist individuals who are blind, hearing impaired, or otherwise disabled, and must be registered with an accredited service animal organization.
