About this resource
Offers direct legal assistance to relatives and caregivers in nonparental custody situations involving at-risk children via a pro bono attorney referral panel.
Intake Process: Online intake is available. If the applicant lacks computer access, they can call to leave a message for a return interview. The message will instruct callers to provide their name (spelled out) and date of birth, along with the names of the parents (spelled out), their dates of birth, and a secure phone number for contact.
Cost: None.
Who can use this
- Residents of King County or individuals involved in guardianship, dependency, or custody cases in King County Superior Court, with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Referrals are considered based on the child's length of stay with the potential client, risk of harm if returned to parents, and the client's ability to advocate for themselves. Exclusions include dependency cases with children in foster care, adoption cases, and situations where CPS has removed a child from the caller's custody.
