New Eyes

This initiative provides essential prescription eyeglasses through a nationwide e-voucher system for those whose income is below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. It does not cover or fund eye examinations. Applications are ideally submitted online by a social worker, case manager, or an agency on behalf of their clients, although individuals in financial distress can also apply if they can demonstrate their eligibility. Upon approval, applicants receive a unique e-voucher number via email, which includes a link to the eyeglass ordering site and detailed instructions for ordering. Recipients must place their orders through New Eyes' online eyeglass dispenser.

Fees: There is a $15 application fee for all applicants. Additional lens upgrades, such as progressive lenses, tinted options, or blue-light filters, can be obtained at a reduced out-of-pocket cost.
