About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to low-income families with children, assisting them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to join the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting the application: - The local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can proactively reach out to the local DHS office to schedule the interview - DHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- - Applicants must be low-income families with children under 18 or pregnant women in their 9th month of pregnancy, with the parent being the head of the household - Must reside in Oregon - Must have very low or no income and minimal resources (like property, vehicles, or bank accounts). The applicant must be a US Citizen or a qualified non-citizen, and non-citizen parents can apply for benefits on behalf of their US Citizen children.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
