About this resource
This program trains service dogs specifically for veterans who have mental and/or physical disabilities, ensuring they become dependable public access dogs that are well-mannered both in public settings and at home.
Intake Process: Interested individuals should send an email with their basic details, including name, address, and the specific need for the dog, after which PAVE will reach out to them.
Costs: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Due to high demand and limited availability of trained service dogs, candidates are matched based on their specific needs and the suitable dog available. Applicants must be honorably discharged, able to attend training in Oregon (including arranging their own travel and accommodation), capable of meeting a dog's physical, mental, and emotional needs, have family support in their pursuit of a PAVE dog, and be financially prepared to care for the dog with quality food, equipment, and veterinary services.
