About this resource
This program offers monthly payments to individuals who have previously worked or are unable to work due to a disability. Payments may commence after the sixth full month of the disability. Additionally, those receiving SSDI might qualify for Medicare benefits.
Intake Procedure: To apply, individuals can either call to schedule an appointment at a local Social Security office or submit an application online. The Social Security Administration will expedite applications for individuals with certain rare diseases and cancer.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligibility is based on prior work history, requiring applicants to have worked five years within the last decade and earned sufficient credits to be considered 'insured,' along with having a severe disability that prevents work for at least 12 months or leads to death.
