About this resource
This service aids individuals in finding their birth parents and adoptees, while also offering continuous support for adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents.
Intake Process: In-person visits are not permitted. Interested individuals should call or email to obtain an application for a confidential intermediary, which will be sent via email after gathering some essential adoption details. Support contacts are available to everyone.
Fees: For a court-ordered search to legally access sealed records for those born or adopted in Washington state, the fee is $400. A non-court search, available when the client has documented identifying details, costs between $200 and $300. There is no fee to register on the WARM Birth Index.
Who can use this
- Individuals must be at least 21 years old to search for birth parents, although younger applicants can do so with support from adoptive parents; birth parents can only search for adoptees who are adults over 21, with possible age exceptions, while support contacts have no age restrictions.
