About this resource

In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously relinquish custody of their newborn without incurring legal repercussions. Designated Safe Haven hospitals, which operate 24 hours, provide a secure location for these infants to be safely surrendered. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.

  • The mother or an authorized individual can drop off the newborn at the hospital.
