About this resource
The program delivers year-round energy assistance and crisis support to qualifying low-income households across Utah. It runs from October 1 to September 30, offering a one-time benefit per household that can cover up to two utility accounts. The program also includes the Utility Moratorium Program, which safeguards against winter utility shut-offs from November 15 to March 15. Furthermore, eligible participants may receive temporary assistance for water and/or cooling payments.
Who can use this
- To qualify, households must have an income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level, be responsible for energy costs, and include at least one US citizen or qualified noncitizen, with assistance available once from November to April.
Documents you may need
- Optional documents which may increase HEAT benefit: proof of medical expenses paid the previous month, proof of child support and/or alimony paid previous month, and proof of disability.; Income Verification — Proof of all household income from previous month.; Photo ID — Photo ID for primary applicant.; Social Security Card — Social Security cards for everyone in the household.
