About this resource
In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Designated Safe Haven hospitals, which operate 24 hours a day, allow for the safe drop-off of newborns. Following this, the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) facilitates the immediate adoption of the child.
Who can use this
- The newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or an individual authorized by her.
