To conduct normal construction activities that obstruct the public way, a permit is required from the Engineering Division of Salt Lake City Community and Neighbors. This includes the replacement or new construction of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveways, and utility excavations. However, landscaping does not need a permit unless heavy machinery is utilized for material movement.
