About this resource

This initiative provides continuous support for gas and electricity utility payments to individuals living in Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. Additionally, it offers restricted water assistance contingent on available funding and the city of residence. Households facing disconnection may also qualify for crisis funding. Each eligible applicant can receive a heating benefit once per season, which is available from October 1 to September 30 annually.

Who can use this

To qualify, total household income must not exceed 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, the household must be liable for energy costs, and at least one member must be a US citizen or a qualified non-citizen. Households with a child under 6, an adult over 60, or a member with a documented disability will receive a higher benefit.

Documents you may need

Income Verification — Proof of income for all adults (18 and older) in the home for the previous calendar month.; Photo ID; Social Security Card — Social Security cards for all household members with a social security number.; U.S. customs and Immigrations Services documents showing legal status in the U.S .for any non citizens. Copies of electric and gas bills; proof of all income received by all household members in the month prior to the month of the application; proof of any eligible medical expenses; child support and alimony paid in the month prior to the month of application; proof of disability, if applicable; additional documentation, if required.
