In Utah, birth parents have the option to relinquish custody of their newborn anonymously without incurring any legal penalties. Designated Safe Haven hospitals, which operate 24 hours a day, provide a secure location for parents to leave their newborns. Following this, the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) facilitates immediate adoption for the child.
Who can use this
- The newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or an authorized individual acting on her behalf.
