In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Hospitals in Utah that operate 24/7 are recognized as Safe Havens, where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.

  • The mother or someone authorized by her can leave the newborn at the hospital.
