About this resource
Under Utah law, birth parents have the option to anonymously relinquish custody of their newborn without incurring legal repercussions. Designated Safe Haven hospitals in Utah, which operate 24 hours a day, provide a secure location for parents to safely leave their newborns. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.
Who can use this
- A newborn can be safely relinquished at the hospital by the mother or someone authorized by her.
