Improvements may encompass insulation for walls, floors, ceilings, and ducts; window upgrades, caulking, door repairs or replacements, weather-stripping, furnace maintenance and repairs, carbon monoxide testing, and water heater services. The entire process typically spans 8-18 months. Families with disabled members, elderly individuals, and preschool-aged children are given priority. Additionally, a Crisis Weatherization program is available for those facing emergencies due to malfunctioning furnaces or water heaters. Who can use this
- Eligibility is determined by federal income and family size guidelines; those qualifying for the HEAT program are automatically eligible for weatherization services.
Documents you may need
- Income Verification — Completed application and HEAT Program certified or last three months pay stubs of all working adults. If self-employed or commission based, submit a form 4506-T for the IRS. Complete Consumption History Authorization Release Form with both utility account numbers listed and a copy of most recent invoices from each. Proof of home ownership. If renting, have landlord sign the Owner Weatherization Agreement before a notary public and list appropriate optional cost sharing choices.
