About this resource
Under Utah law, birth parents have the option to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24 hours is recognized as a Safe Haven, where newborns can be safely left. Following this, the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) arranges for the child to be placed for immediate adoption.
Who can use this
- The newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or someone authorized by her.
