About this resource
In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously relinquish custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24 hours is recognized as a Safe Haven, where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.
Who can use this
- A newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or someone authorized by her.
