About this resource
The HEAT Program delivers ongoing energy assistance and crisis support for eligible low-income households across Utah. This initiative operates annually from October 1 to September 30. Applicants do not need to have their service disconnected or receive a shut-off notice to be eligible for benefits. Those using medical equipment can request immediate assistance, and special arrangements can be made for clients who are homebound.
Who can use this
- Household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, and at least one member must be a U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen; priority is given in October to households with young children, individuals with disabilities, and seniors over 60, with applications open to all after that month.
Documents you may need
- Income Verification — Must bring following documents from previous month: proof of all GROSS earned and unearned income (including child support and/or alimony), proof of payment for medical or dental expenses, copies of electric and gas utility bills. If bills are in landlord's name, bring copy of lease for verification, or have landlord fill out Landlord Statement form. Verification will be needed if household includes anyone over 60, under 6, or disabled.; Photo ID — Photo ID for household members 18 and over. (including children). Non-citizens in household bring copies of Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services (BCIS) documents showing legal status in the U.S.; Social Security Card — Social Security cards for every household member (including children). Non-citizens in household bring copies of Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services (BCIS) documents showing legal status in the U.S.
