About this resource
The Taxpayer Advocate Service provides free support to taxpayers in resolving their tax issues and informs them about their rights. This service operates independently from local IRS offices and reports directly to the National Taxpayer Advocate.
Who can use this
- -Taxpayers may qualify if they are unable to resolve their tax issues with the IRS due to systemic problems or lack of response. -The tax issue must be causing or likely to cause financial difficulties for the taxpayer, their family, or their business. -There must be an immediate risk of adverse action against the taxpayer or their business. - Proof of hardship (utility shut-off notice, eviction notice etc); Any and all current tax documents, if applicable
