About this resource
This program offers monthly financial assistance to individuals with disabilities, including children, who meet specific income and resource criteria. Washington provides an extra state supplement, and participants are automatically qualified for Medicaid and food assistance.
Intake Procedure: To apply, you can either call to set up an appointment at a local office or submit an application online. When applying for SSI, individuals will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- SSI benefits are available to low-income individuals aged 65 and older, or those under 65 who are blind or disabled, while WASHCAP is designated for SSI recipients who are at least 18, do not have earned income, and either live alone or prepare food separately from others in their household.
