About this resource
This program provides monthly financial aid to both adults and children with disabilities whose income and resources are below designated financial limits. Washington also contributes an extra state supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
Intake Process: Individuals can either call to arrange an appointment at a nearby office or submit an application online. Those applying for SSI will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Costs: There are no fees involved.
Who can use this
- Eligible low-income clients, aged 65 and older, or those younger than 65 who are blind or disabled, can receive SSI benefits. WASHCAP is available for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, have no earned income, and either live alone or purchase and prepare food separately from others in their household.
