About this resource
This initiative allows families to construct and purchase their own residences. The homes are sold without profit to the families, who contribute labor through sweat equity to assist in the building process. Additionally, a home repair program is available.
Intake Procedure: Individuals must participate in an orientation meeting to obtain the full application.
Fees: Families are accountable for a closing fee of up to a specified amount. The duration of mortgages varies based on income; Habitat modifies the mortgage length to ensure that the monthly payment (including taxes, insurance, and condo fees, if applicable) does not exceed 30% of the homeowner's gross monthly income at the time of sale.
Who can use this
- To qualify, applicants must meet specific income criteria, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, not have owned a home in the last three years, and demonstrate the ability to make mortgage payments with stable income and a good credit history.
