This program provides monthly cash benefits to individuals aged 62 and older and manages Social Security numbers, claims, late Social Security checks, and applications.
Application Process: Individuals can complete a retirement application either online or at a local office. To obtain a replacement Social Security card, applications can be submitted online or in person. Users need to create an account on the Social Security website to utilize the online services.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Individuals aged 62 and older who have sufficient work history to qualify for benefits. Workers can choose to retire at 62 for a reduced benefit or at 65 for a full benefit. Certain family members may also qualify for monthly benefits from a deceased worker, including: a widow or widower aged 60 or older (50 or older if disabled), a widow or widower of any age caring for the deceased’s child under 16 or disabled, an unmarried child under 18 or developmentally disabled, and parents aged 62 or older who relied on the deceased for at least half of their support.
