About this resource
This program offers monthly financial assistance to individuals with disabilities, both adults and children, whose income and resources fall below certain thresholds. Washington provides an extra state supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
Intake Process: To apply, individuals can either call to set up an appointment at a local office or submit an application online. Those applying for SSI will be given the option to also apply for food benefits, choosing between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Costs: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligible low-income individuals, including those aged 65 and older or younger individuals who are blind or disabled, can receive SSI benefits. WASHCAP is specifically for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, do not earn income, and live independently or prepare food separately from others in their household.
