About this resource
This program provides monthly financial assistance to both adults and children with disabilities whose income and resources fall below certain financial thresholds. In Washington, an extra state supplement is available, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
Intake Procedure: Individuals can either call to arrange an appointment at a local office or apply through the online portal. When applying for SSI, individuals will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program).
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligible low-income individuals, aged 65 and older or younger individuals who are blind or disabled, can receive SSI benefits. WASHCAP is available for SSI recipients who are at least 18, have no earned income, and either live alone or manage food purchases separately from others in their household.
