This service aids plaintiffs in obtaining monetary compensation or other damages, with a cap set at $10,000.
Intake Procedure: A claim form is available from the court and must be signed in front of the court clerk. Instructions and a packet of relevant forms can be found on the website. Small claims may be initiated in any district court within the county where the defendant resides or, in the case of a traffic incident, in the county where it took place. Hearings will occur at the courthouse closest to the defendant's home, typically scheduled 40-90 days after filing.
Fees: A filing fee of $50 is required for claims.
