About this resource
Authorized to issue pet licenses in King County for pet owners. Discounts are available for seniors and individuals with disabilities, while service animal licenses are provided at no cost.
Application Process: You can complete the application online or go to a licensing office, including city offices. For a list of all licensing locations, please visit the website. Additionally, during the summer and fall, King County canvassers may sell pet licenses door-to-door.
Fees: The annual licensing fees are as follows: Unaltered dog/cat: $60; Altered dog/cat: $30; Senior/disabled: $15; Service animal: Free; Replacement: $5.
Who can use this
- Pet licenses have no restrictions, but are mandatory for all dogs and cats over 8 weeks old in most parts of King County. To qualify for the senior/disabled discount, pet owners must be 65 or older or have a documented disability, and their pets must be altered. For service animals, owners must provide documentation of their disability and a statement confirming the animal's status as a service animal, which must also be altered. A service animal is defined as any animal trained to assist individuals with disabilities and registered with a recognized organization.
