Authorized to issue pet licenses in King County for pet owners. Discounts are available for seniors and disabled individuals, while service animal licenses are provided at no cost.
Application Process: Complete the application online or visit a licensing office, including city government locations. For further details, make a phone call. Check the website for all licensing sites. During the summer and fall, King County canvassers also sell pet licenses directly at homes.
Fees: Annual licensing fees are as follows: Unaltered dog/cat: $60, Altered dog/cat: $30, Senior/disabled: $15, Service animal: Free.
Who can use this
- Pet licenses have no restrictions, but they are mandatory for all dogs and cats over 8 weeks old in most areas of King County. To qualify for senior/disabled discounts, the pet owner must be at least 65 years old or have a documented disability, and the pet must be altered. For service animals, the owner must provide documentation of their disability and a statement confirming the animal's status as a service animal, which must also be altered. A service animal is defined as an animal trained to assist individuals who are blind, hearing impaired, or otherwise disabled and is registered with an accredited service animal organization.
