Community Resource
About this resource
This initiative provides support in the form of rent assistance, gas vouchers, and bus tickets for individuals living in the Federal Way School District. To qualify for rent assistance, applicants must not be more than one month behind on their rent. Individuals should visit in person during designated intake hours, as assistance is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that only two gas vouchers are available each Tuesday (in total).
Intake Procedure: Individuals should come in person for intake. Please refrain from calling or visiting the church office; intake occurs in the lower hall of the Church through the door next to the small portable. For further information and guidelines, please check the website.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- To be eligible, individuals must reside within specific Zip Codes: 98003 or 98023 (Federal Way), 98001 (South of 272nd and West of 51st in Auburn), or 98422 (NE Tacoma). Households can receive assistance only once every 24 months, and after two instances, they must wait four years for further aid. Assistance is limited to one of three areas: rent, gas vouchers, or bus tickets. For rent assistance, applicants must rent a separate private unit with cooking and bathroom facilities and provide a lease or rental agreement. They cannot be more than one month behind on rent and must demonstrate the ability to make future payments. The program cannot assist those in transitional or sober housing. For gas vouchers, applicants must have a valid driver's license and proof of current or former residency in Federal Way/NE Tacoma if homeless.
