For service animals, the owner must have a documented disability and a statement confirming the animal's status as a service animal, and the pet must also be altered. A service animal is defined as any animal trained or in training to assist individuals who are blind, hearing impaired, or otherwise disabled, and must be registered with an approved service animal organization.
