This service offers complimentary legal help to low-income tenants attending eviction hearings at the courthouse, with support available on a walk-in basis.
Intake Procedure: To receive legal assistance, it is recommended to visit one of our legal clinics (addresses listed below). Attorney consultations occur Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Seattle Location: King County Courthouse at 516 3rd Ave #W-325, Seattle WA 98104. Kent Location: 401 4th Ave N #1281, Kent WA 98032. Tenants unable to attend a clinic can submit an accommodation request via this link: https://airtable.com/appZR9jtKuczKKhwR/pag2ocfQTrORIlG1o/form. Additionally, tenants can email hjpstaff@kcba.org for assistance.
Fees: There are no charges for this service.
Who can use this
- This program assists low-income residential tenants in King County who are involved in eviction cases or have received eviction lawsuits, specifically those at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. It does not provide services to landlords and cannot assist tenants who have already vacated the unit. Help may be available if a writ has been issued but the sheriff has not yet evicted the tenant, and support can be provided even without a rental agreement.
