This entity oversees all city violations, traffic matters, and criminal offenses, including gross misdemeanors, within the boundaries of Seattle.

Intake Process: The process begins when a complaint is lodged by the prosecuting attorney or when a law enforcement officer submits a citation to the court. Individuals should reach out to the court to determine eligibility for a public defender. All criminal hearings for those not in custody can be attended virtually (via phone or online) or in person unless otherwise instructed to appear physically. Tickets can be paid online, by phone, or through the mail.

Costs: Fines and copying charges may vary. The highest penalty for a gross misdemeanor includes up to 364 days in jail and a $5,000 fine. A transaction fee is incurred for online and phone payments. Payment plans are also offered.
