This service aids plaintiffs in obtaining monetary compensation or other forms of damages, capped at $10,000.
Intake Process: The court provides a claim form that must be signed in front of a court clerk. A collection of relevant forms and guidelines can be found on the website. Small claims can be filed in any district court located in the county of the defendant's residence or, in the case of a traffic incident, in the county where the incident took place. The hearing will occur at the courthouse closest to the defendant's home. Typically, cases are heard within 40 to 90 days after filing.
Fees: There is a $50 fee for filing a claim.
