About this resource
Authorized to issue pet licenses in King County for pet owners, with discounts available for seniors and disabled individuals. Service animal licenses are provided at no cost.
Application Process: Complete the application online or visit a licensing office, including city offices. For further details, call or check the website for licensing locations. During summer and fall, King County canvassers also offer pet licenses door-to-door.
Fees: Annual license fees are $60 for unaltered dogs/cats, $30 for altered dogs/cats, $15 for seniors/disabled individuals, and free for service animals.
Who can use this
- Pet licenses have no restrictions; they are mandatory for all dogs and cats aged 8 weeks or older in most parts of King County. To qualify for the senior/disabled discount, the pet owner must be at least 65 years old or have a documented disability, and the pet must be altered. For service animals, the owner must provide documentation of their disability and confirm that the animal is a service animal, which must also be altered.
