Provides rental subsidies through the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program aimed at very low-income families. Vouchers are allocated via a lottery system when the waitlist is short. The website displays the lottery numbers currently being processed.
Intake Procedure: The waitlist is currently closed. Vouchers are allocated through a lottery system whenever the waitlist is low. Applications will only be accessible online. When the lottery opens, check the website for the application link. Applicants can reach out for assistance if they encounter issues with the application. Support will be available for those who need help accessing it. There is no advantage to applying earlier, as the 2,500 households selected for the waitlist will be chosen randomly from eligible applicants. Only one application per household is allowed.
Fees: Rent is typically 30-40% of the adjusted household income, which takes into account annual income, the number of minors in the household, and specific household expenses.
Who can use this
- To qualify, the head of household must be at least 18 years old and the household must include at least one member who has a disability, is 62 years or older, or is under 18. Additionally, the household's annual gross income must not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income, and it must meet at least one of several program preferences related to housing instability or safety concerns.
