About this resource
The ORCA LIFT adult fare payment is accepted on Pierce Transit buses and Runner services, allowing income-eligible adults to benefit from reduced fares on various transit options throughout the Puget Sound region. For more information, please refer to the details below.
Application Process: You can apply online, via mail, or in person at several locations including the Pierce South Community Service Office at 1301 E. 72nd St., Tacoma, WA 98404, Pierce North Community Service Office at 1949 S. State St., Tacoma, WA 98405, and Lakewood Community Service Office at 5712 Main St. W. #100, Lakewood, WA 98499. Additionally, applications can be submitted at Community Health Centers located at the following addresses: 1202 MLK Jr. Way, Tacoma, WA 98405; 1708 E. 44th St., Tacoma, WA 98404; 10510 Gravelly Lake Dr. SW., Lakewood, WA 98499; 11225 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, WA 98444; and 134 188th St. S., Spanaway, WA 98387.
Costs: The initial card is free, while replacement cards (in case of loss, theft, or damage) cost $3. You can reload the ORCA LIFT card with e-Purse value or a transit pass at any ORCA card vending machine. If the card balance is insufficient for the next trip, it allows for a negative balance of up to -$2.75, with the requirement to pay upon the next reload.
Who can use this
- Adults with a monthly income below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) are eligible, which is $2,430 for a single-person household; those receiving assistance from programs like Basic Food, TANF, HEN/ABD, or Apple Health may qualify.
