Pierce County Housing Authority
Community Resource
About this resource
WAIT LIST CLOSED This program enables qualified applicants to receive rental assistance through the Housing Choice Voucher Program, where rent is determined as 30% of the household's income.
Application Process: Applications must be submitted online, and only one application per waitlist is allowed; submitting multiple applications will result in removal from the waitlist. Households can apply for both the Section 8 and Low Income Public Housing waitlists but cannot submit two applications for Section 8. Prepare the following information: Full names and social security numbers for all family members (contact the housing authority if a family member lacks a number), an active email address, total monthly income for the household, and a current mailing address. For those without computer access (home, library, or social service agency), the Pierce County Housing Authority provides alternative application methods. After application submission, a confirmation number will be generated—make sure to write it down for future reference. Applications are also available in multiple languages. If a disability hinders computer use, reach out to the housing authority for assistance.
Cost: There is no fee to apply online. Be cautious of websites requesting payment to apply, as they are not legitimate.
Who can use this
- To qualify, applicants must adhere to HUD eligibility criteria and have incomes below the HUD-defined area income limits, with potential applicants placed on a waiting list until a subsidy becomes available.
