About this resource
This program offers monthly financial assistance to individuals with disabilities, including children, who meet certain income and resource criteria. Washington provides an extra state supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
Intake Procedure: To apply, individuals can either call to set up an appointment at a local office or complete the application online. Those applying for SSI will be given the option to also apply for food benefits, choosing between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligible low-income individuals, aged 65 and older or under 65 and either blind or disabled, can receive SSI benefits, while WASHCAP is available for SSI recipients who are at least 18, have no earned income, and live independently.
