This court has authority over cases related to misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and criminal traffic offenses where the highest penalty can be a fine of $5,000 and/or a year in jail.
Intake Procedure: Criminal proceedings begin when a complaint is lodged by the prosecuting attorney, a citizen files a complaint, or a law enforcement officer issues a citation and notice for court appearance.
