Pierce County Human Services
Community Resource
About this resource
This initiative provides emergency rental support to residents of Pierce County who are struggling to pay their rent. Applications can be submitted online, with funding sourced from the county and managed by local agencies. Renters must ensure the lease is in their name. Each month, on the 10th, applicants are randomly selected via a lottery system.
Application Process: To apply, visit the Pierce County website and ensure you have the landlord's contact information ready. Tenants must gather all necessary documentation before submitting their application. For those without internet access, in-person applications can be made at the Pierce County District Court Resource Center (925 Tacoma Ave South, Tacoma, WA 98402) on Thursdays from 8am-4pm, or at any local library. Once applications are completed, eligible households will be randomly chosen for assistance. If selected, the nonprofits will contact the landlord to gather required documentation and payment details.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Applicants must reside in Pierce County (including Tacoma), be no more than three months behind on rent, be responsible for the full rent amount, and have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income. Households can only receive assistance once through this program, and those in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers are not eligible.
