About this resource
This program provides monthly financial assistance to both adults and children with disabilities whose income and resources fall below defined limits. The state of Washington contributes an extra supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
To apply, individuals can either call to set up an appointment at a local office or submit an application online. Those applying for SSI will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- SSI benefits are available to low-income individuals aged 65 and older, or those under 65 who are blind or disabled, while WASHCAP is specifically for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, do not earn income, and either live alone or manage their food separately from others in their household.
