About this resource
This program offers monthly financial assistance to individuals with disabilities who have income and resources that fall below certain financial thresholds. The state of Washington provides an additional supplement, and clients automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance.
Application Process: To apply, individuals can either call to make an appointment at a local office or submit an application online. Those applying for SSI will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligible clients for SSI benefits include low-income individuals aged 65 and older or those under 65 who are blind or disabled, while WASHCAP is available for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, do not have earned income, and live independently.
