Offers financial support to victims of crime, covering expenses such as medical bills, lost wages, mental health care, and benefits for death.

Application Process: Victims or their family members can submit an application online (https://secure.lni.wa.gov/cvbenefits/) or send it directly to the office. The program will request a police report, which can speed up the process if included with the application. A claims manager will be assigned to evaluate the application and inform the applicant about their eligibility for benefits. Applications are also available by contacting the Crime Victims Compensation office, at county prosecutors' offices, or through the website (https://lni.wa.gov/forms-publications/F800-042-000.pdf).

Fees: There are no fees associated with the application.

Who can use this

Eligible individuals include those who have suffered bodily injury or significant emotional distress due to a crime classified as a gross misdemeanor or felony, must report the crime to law enforcement within one year, cooperate with investigations, and apply within three years (or five years for good cause). Benefits may be denied if the applicant provoked the incident or has a felony conviction related to violent offenses within the past five years.
