Who can use this

  • Assistance is exclusively available to clients confirmed as eligible for HEN by DSHS. Yakima Neighborhood Health will check the client's eligibility and evaluate their risk of homelessness to see if they qualify for financial aid, although such assistance is not guaranteed; all clients can receive essential needs support. Housing and Essential Needs Grant Funds Criteria: Homeless individuals include those living outdoors, in unsuitable buildings, emergency shelters, temporary housing, or escaping domestic violence. Substantial Risk includes those with pay or eviction notices, utility shut-off warnings, or late payment reminders. Additional considerations include overcrowded living situations, condemned residences, sudden utility cost spikes, physical disabilities, chronic health conditions, past institutionalization, mental health or substance abuse histories, credit issues affecting housing access, pending rental property foreclosures, recent discharges from facilities, or past homelessness within the last year. All client options will be evaluated, including support from friends, family, churches, social service organizations, or other housing possibilities.
