Who can use this
- Support is exclusively available to clients confirmed by DSHS as eligible for HEN. Yakima Neighborhood Health will verify eligibility and evaluate the client's risk of homelessness to see if they qualify for financial assistance, though such assistance is not assured; all clients can receive essential needs support. Criteria for Housing and Essential Needs Grant Funds include: being homeless (living outdoors, in unsuitable buildings, emergency shelters, temporary housing, or fleeing domestic violence) or at substantial risk (having eviction notices, utility shut-off warnings, or late payment notices). Additional considerations include overcrowded living conditions, condemned residences, sudden increases in utility costs, physical or chronic health issues, past institutionalization, mental health or substance abuse histories, credit issues affecting housing access, pending foreclosures, recent discharges from facilities, or previous homelessness within the last year. All clients' options, including support from friends, family, churches, social services, or other housing solutions, will be evaluated.
