Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-415-5180, and the Swine Flu Hotline is available at 208-415-5299. Idaho comprises seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and other local and state organizations. Each district has its own board of health appointed by county commissioners and operates independently of state agencies. They cater to local demands, offering diverse services that differ between districts, including community and home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs. Many of these services are provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about available services in your area, contact your nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a comprehensive statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism threats and public health emergencies. Environmental Health initiatives address the intersection of human health with the physical environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food and waterborne illnesses), food establishment permits and inspections, indoor air quality (including radon), lead health programs, methamphetamine lab inspections, public pools, and solid waste management. Land Development programs focus on critical materials regulation, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater management, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventories, subdivision reviews, and subsurface sewage evaluations. Family Planning services include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and STD screenings), and referrals, offering various birth control methods. Educational resources and speakers are available for community outreach. Immunization services provide routine childhood vaccinations at health department clinics, often at low or no cost for families in need, along with overseas immunizations by appointment. Adult vaccines, such as Td boosters, hepatitis A and B, pneumonia, and influenza, may also be available. The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that helps individuals track their vaccination history. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program offers nutritious food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community referrals, and individual counseling for eligible pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five. The Women's Health Check program provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured women meeting specific income and age criteria. Languages available include English, with interpreters accessible upon request. For general inquiries, locations, and appointment scheduling, please call.
