Legal - Public Defender

The Public Defender's Office offers legal assistance as court-appointed lawyers for low-income individuals in criminal matters, which encompass felonies, misdemeanors, and certain civil cases, in addition to representing juveniles in criminal proceedings and aiding children and their families during Child Protective hearings. To apply for a Public Defender, individuals must submit their request to the District Court located on the lower level of the Justice Building at 324 Garden Avenue, Coeur d'Alene, where a judge will need to approve the application.
