Whitman County issues marriage licenses and certified copies of Marriage Certificates. There is a mandatory three-day waiting period before the licenses become valid, and they must be utilized within 60 days of issuance.

Intake Procedure: Age Requirements: Both applicants need to be at least 18 years old. If one is 17, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can sign a consent form and present a photo ID. For those 16 or younger, permission from the Juvenile Court is required before obtaining a license. Waiting Period: A three-day (calendar day) waiting period is enforced before the license is valid, with no exceptions. Period Valid: The marriage ceremony must take place in any Washington county within 60 days of the application.

Fees: In Whitman County, the fee is $44, payable by cash, check, or money order; credit cards are not accepted, and the fee is non-refundable.
